The floor of the valley is covered with Taro plantations. Taro requires a lot of water and because of this there is a lot of runoff. Many of the roads are covered in water 30-60cm (1-2ft) deep. I was originally going to do a longer hike but the thought of wearing blisters into my now wet feet did not excite me too much.
