Hawai'ians have many legends about their flowers. This flower, the
'Naupaka', appears only to have half its blossoms. One tale tells of a
chief's son who wished to marry. Tradition has it that only a virgin
woman can find a flower with all its petals intact. Doubting her
purity the Chief gave the bride-to-be the task of finding one of these
full flowers. The son joined her quest and apparently they are still
searching.
