Canyonlands National Park contains some of the least accessible areas
of a National Park in the US. It's divided roughly into four areas,
the River, mostly seen by boat, the Maze, a 4WD area with rough
terrain, Needles, an area closer to the rivers that run through the
park, and Island in the Sky, the highest part of the park.
It's called Islands in the Sky because the mostly flat plateau has
been carved into shapes reminiscent of landforms in an ocean. Here the
ocean is the space gauged out by rivers of the millennia.
