Abydos was a very important temple for the Ancient Egyptians. This is
where the head of Osiris was buried when his brother Seth defeated and
killed him in battle. This was also the place where Osiris'
mummification and resurrection were performed by Anubus and Isis.
This temple was built in the reign of Seti I and extended by Ramses II.
The current temple entrance was once preceded by two courtyards. The
first one was bounded by pylons that have now fallen into ruin.
