Casablanca: Hassan II Mosque

The materials of the Mosque itself are almost entirely Moroccan in origin. To the left is a raised platform made of Moroccan cedar. This is where the women worship. All of the marble seen here is from the Atlas mountains. The plaster work and mosaics all crafted from local materials. The only artifacts of the building not local in origin are the glass chandeliers and granite columns which are imported from Venice.
