My guide book describes this place as the one building that should be visited on any trip to Morocco. Its carved cedar, mosaics and plaster work are among the best in the country. This is also one of the the only Muslim religious buildings in Fes that non-Muslims are allowed to visit.

Medersas were the student colleges and dormitories associated with Universities. One such is institution is Fes' Kairaouine University which according to the Guiness Book of World Records is the oldest in the world. Unfortunately this university was being renovated and we weren't able to visit it.
