On the road out of Nakamura. My next destination was the Shimanto River 四万十川. It's reportedly the last major river in all of Japan that hasn't been damned. All of my guide books had regaled its beauty.

This river, just a few minutes from my Hotel, isn't the Shimanto river proper but it is connected.
