Kouchi-ken 高知県: Nakamura 中村

This is every sushi fanboy's dream. Fugu 河豚 or pufferfish contains enough poison in some of its organs to kill a human quite easily. Death comes from asphyxiation after muscular paralysis and there is no known antidote. Chefs in Japan require a special licence to prepare this food. While the texture of the fish is extremely chewy and the taste quite mild, the main attraction is the tingling in the tongue caused by the small amount of poison present in the flesh of the fish. This kind of fugu was Torafugu 虎河豚 (literally Tiger Pufferfish).
