Tokyo 東京: Nishi-Ogikubo 西荻窪

These impressive plates were made using a process quite popular in the 1920s. A glass plate or cup would be coated in a dark translucent glaze and fired. The glaze is then painstaking ground away until a pattern is formed on the glass. Often the uncoloured glass is also edged to create patterns.
