Ainu Museum: Dance

As you can see by the designs in their clothing, the Ainu designs are very different from that we associate with the Japanese. The men here wear a ceremonial headdress made from wheat. Watching them dance was somewhat sad since it seems the Ainu culture is slowly dying. There has been so much intermarriage that it's estimated that there are only 200 full blood Ainu left. Furthermore without a written language many of the old yukar or epic poems are being lost.
