I had a few hours before my flight back to Tokyo, so I decided to
visit the Ainu village museum next to Lake Porotokotan in Shiraoi. The
indigenous people of Hokkaido originally comprised many ethnic groups,
however, they are commonly grouped under the name Ainu today. Their
culture has suffered a fate similar to the American Indians, however,
recently there have been efforts made to rekindle pride in their
culture.
