Hungo Pavi: Building Information

Hungo Pavi means "Reed Spring Village". It's northern wall is aligned East-West within 5 degrees. Built between 943 and 1047CE it comprised 150 rooms, two kivas and as many as four floors.

Behind it is a stairway that leads to a sophisticated Chacoan built road system. This road system radiated out from the great houses in the canyon. These roads were deliberately engineered, not just worn into the landscape by travellers. They are remarkably straight and though the width of each road varies, they can be wide as 30 feet.
